2011 Season on the way

It seems like yesterday I was harvesting some winter hardy kale. This year we are starting everything in the greenhouse; no more carying dirt around the house. Already 3 weeks ago we seeded the onions and leeks and some herbs. The nights still get cold, but under a plastic dome and an extra sheet of plastic the seedlings are doing well. Many seedlings are more resistant to cold at a very early age then when they get older.

The temperature can rise to 30deg Celcius in the greenhouse on a sunny day. It feels like summer already; If I only could fit a small pool in the corner...

The seed orders are finally out. We grow well over 300 varieties of vegetables. Tomatoes being the larger item with over 52 varieties, many of which are heirloom varieties that you will never find in a store. We will sell seedlings to garderners in May at the Dieppe Market.

As last year, you can get our vegetables through our farm stand and a few merchants and of course a garanteed supply of fresh organic vegetables through our Farm share program. Invitations for the farm share program should be sent out very soon.
