What is a Farm Share Program?
'Farm Share Program' is our name for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) or 'box program'.
The essence of a Farm Share Program is that it benefits our members by ensuring that they have access to a wide range of certified organic produce, picked at peak ripeness for maximum flavour and nutrition. In return we, the growers, are able to focus our skills on growing premium quality crops knowing that they are already sold. It's a win-win situation!
Our Farm share members;
- Support our local, organic family farm by buying a share of the harvest in the spring.
- Collect their share of the harvest; a basket of fresh, locally grown, organic vegetables, herbs and some fruits, every week, for a total of 22 weeks, from June to October (or 18 weeks from July to October).
- Enjoy receiving old fashioned favourites such as carrots and potatoes that taste like they used to, plus vegetables that aren't available anywhere else including heritage tomatoes, Italian beans and fresh garlic.
- Feel a stronger connection with where and how their food is grown.
- Feel confident that they are feeding themselves and their families the best possible quality food.
- Enjoy their food!
How does it work?
Members choose whether they want to receive a small or large basket of vegetables.
- 22 week program (sorry, no longer available for the 2008 season)
- Large basket - enough for a family or two vegetarians: $550 for the growing season ($25/wk)
- Small basket - enough for two people or one vegetable lover: $330 for the growing season ($15/wk).
- 18 week program (sorry, no longer available for the 2008 season)
- Large basket - enough for a family or two vegetarians: $450 for the growing season ($25/wk)
- Small basket - enough for two people or one vegetable lover: $270 for the growing season ($15/wk).
They then choose one of three collection points;
- Sequoia (Moncton), Wednesday, 4-7pm
- Amarosia Organic Garden (Grande-Digue) Sunday, 10-noon.
- Shediac Market (Shediac), Sunday, 8-10am (July and August only), Grande-Digue the remaining weeks.
In addition, members have access to a 'swap box' at the collection point for exchanging vegetables.
