Earthworm castings are odorless, coffee grounds-like particles produced by our large red worms. The worms consume and digest their bedding material and feedstock, effectively composting it and adding valuable nutrients. The castings contain no animal manures and no harmful waste products.

Spread a few castings over the seeds when seeding carrots or over the potatoes when planting. A few castings will go a long way and make a big difference in speed and quality of germination and produce.

Earthworm castings are a great natural addition to a potting mix when you need that little added boost. You can spread them around the top or incorporate them into the mix at planting.

Made from Canadian sphagnum peat moss and wood pulp, jiffy pots come pre-formed and ready for planting. Jiffy peat pots are the ideal choice for indoors seed starting. Jiffy pots are soft walled peat pots that allow plant roots to naturally air prune as they emerge through the pot. This allows for greater root development and aeration in the root zone.

Jiffy peat pots also make transplanting a snap! Since the jiffy pot is biodegradable, there is no reason to remove the plant from the peat pot. When it comes time to transplant, you simply bury the pot and all. Jiffy pots will degrade over time, giving the plant vital nutrients, while protecting the root system. Jiffy pots practically eliminate transplant shock.

Allow pellet to stand in 1 cm of water in a shallow dish. It will swell to 5 times its original size after 5 minutes. Just insert cuttings or seed into the centre of the pellet.

Perlite is very useful in soil conditioning in order to ensure optimal moisture retention, improved aeration, drainage, and to control weight and temperature variations. Added to soil, perlite particles leave enough space to greatly improve root penetration thus maximizing growth.
